Missing Tracked Time for New Users of Time Doctor

TL;DR:

Missing time is likely tracked under a separate personal company account. Recover it by exporting reports from the personal account and adding it as manual time to the correct company.

What Caused the Missing Time?

Tracked time may be missing because it was recorded under a different company account, often a personal account created unintentionally. This occurs when new users sign up for Time Doctor independently rather than using an invitation link from their employer.

When signing up directly via the Time Doctor website without an invite, a new company account is automatically created.

For example, if the user’s name is Mark, the account may be named "Mark's Company."

If later added to an employer's company via an invitation, time can be tracked under either account. Users must manually select the correct company to log time for.

To check which company is currently active:

  1. Click the profile icon or company name/logo in the Time Doctor desktop application.

  2. A dropdown will display all companies associated with the account.

  3. Select the correct employer's company to log time under the right account.

Note: Do not create a personal Time Doctor company if planning to only work under an employer. Simply use the invitation link to join the company account.

A personal company account can be ignored, deleted, or used for freelance work. However, it will generate separate notifications and may lead to unnecessary charges. Only the employer's account needs to be used if not freelancing.

How to Recover Tracked Time

To recover time logged under a personal or incorrect account:

  1. Go to the Time Doctor web dashboard.

  2. Click the company name in the upper left-hand corner.

  3. Browse through all listed company accounts to locate the missing time.

  4. Use Reports to export the tracked data.

  5. Log in to the correct company account.

  6. Navigate to the Edit time page.

  7. Enter the time manually as needed.

Ensure the correct company account is active before adding manual time.
