Installing Time Doctor on Linux (Ubuntu)

 

TL;DR: 

Download the Time Doctor .deb package, allow it to execute as a program, remove any previous installations using the terminal, then run the installer.

 

Prerequisites

  1. Ensure the session is running under Xorg, not Wayland, for the app to function correctly.

 

Step 1: Download the Installer

Navigate to the bottom of the Time Doctor Download page and download the .deb package for Linux.

Step 2: Set Executable Permissions

Locate the downloaded file.

  1. Right-click the file

  2. Select Properties

  3. Go to the Permissions tab

  4. Enable Allow executing file as program

Step 3: Remove Previous Installation

Before proceeding with a new installation, remove any previous version manually.

Run the following command in the terminal: sudo apt-get remove timedoctor

Step 4: Install Time Doctor

Run the downloaded package file. This can be done by double-clicking the file and choosing the Run option.

Once the process is complete, Time Doctor is installed.

Final Step: Launch Time Doctor

Launch the Time Doctor app from the application menu or by searching for it in the system dash.

Begin tracking time and working as needed.
